FAUK ‘R3Stored!’

FAUK Members were treated to their own special day at R3Store studios.

May 20th saw Technicians and other colleagues from our Member archives across the UK head to Sugar House Island, London E15 where they were kindly hosted to a special day and tour by R3Store Studios.

R3Store moved to their new offices in March this year. The addition of new equipment and advancing technology has expanded their capabilities and strengthened their ability to safeguard the world’s film heritage.

In small groups, delegates were offered a tour of R3Stores colour-grading and restoration suites as well as the film scanning and film preparation areas enabling them to get up close to the work done by R3Store’s own Technicians.

Following lunch, delegates gathered for an informal Q&A session discussing how Members’ own film and post production workflows and procedures compare and contrast.  A very healthy exchange of views led to suggestions for a new communication portal or platform where we can share ideas, ask for help and generally provide a better community for FAUK Members.
The visit was topped off with Member’s enjoying a drink in the sunshine by the canal.
Thank you to R3Store’s Digital & Restoration Director, Jo Griffin and her team for offering FAUK this special opportunity to observe their work and, without doubt, benefit from this valuable experience.
