The UEA’s report, ‘Invisible Innovators', making women filmmakers visible across the UK’s Film Archives is now available. It has been commissioned by Film Archives UK to explore the current scale and scope of the holdings of women’s amateur filmmaking within the regional and national film and media archives and to investigate ways of optimising their visibility. 6.3.20

On Valentine’s Day, as the world celebrated love in its many forms, YORKSHIRE & NORTH EAST FILM ARCHIVES, along with their project partners, proudly announced the online release of their celebrated film “NATURE MATTERS.”
23rd November 2023 saw 16 members from right across the UK head to Leeds. Hosted by Head of ITV Content Library, Andy Gavaghan, they were treated to a bespoke and extensive tour of ITV Archive and both the restoration and scanning departments with the visit culminating in a special visit to the Emmerdale studios to see how it all happened behind the camera.

Footage from Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive adds to a fascinating mix of poetry and music.
The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) presented its annual award to Tilda Swinton on 29th November for her advocacy of film heritage.
Presented at a special ceremony at FAUK Member, the National Library of Scotland in Glasgow, Swinton was awarded for her work on the preservation and promotion of archive film, film history (and in particular women’s role in it), and the importance of film archives worldwide.
The Turner Prize awards last December was a landmark event – it was the first time the coveted award was won by a collective of artists from Northern Ireland and a welcome return to archive film playing an important part in an award entry installation.
